Splint seat cricket (a/k/a footstool) with original oxidized red stain.  Straight turned legs with an ending taper and plain square beading and simple turned stretchers. The early splint seat has eroded but shows the original hand carved seat rails which I absolutely love looking at. 

I was originally going to have a new seat put on but I love the look so much that I have been laying a piece of fabric across part of the seat and leaving it as is.  You can have the seat replaced, or perhaps put an upholstered seat above the original one….personally, I like it the way it is.

The stool measures 15" x 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" tall.  Nice early stool.  Circa 1830.
