Antique Folk Art Carved Wood Hand Holding Cup
  • After listing the Heart-in-Hand painting a few days ago, I thought I’d make today a “handy” update! Offered is a graceful carved wood folk sculpture of a hand holding a cup or vase. I love the almost seductive manner in which the white tulip-like vase rises out of the cradling hand. Turned and then carved out of one piece of wood, this treen sculpture captures the meaning of folk art. I’m not good at identifying wood, but it is a very light-weight piece that measures 8” x 3” diameter of the cup x 2 ¾” diameter of the base. Wonderful condition. Circa 1st quarter of the 20th century.

See the last photo for a photo showing both of the “handy” listings of today: this great sculpture as well as a whimsey chain.
