It’s very unusual to find a half-length signed Frith silhouette, but here we have a dapper gentleman with bushy side-whiskers dressed in a double-breasted coat, black cravat and Wellington top hat. The cut & paste silhouette is stunningly embellished with signature Royal Victoria Gallery gold, yellow and Chinese white details. The reverse of the card is lightly signed “Fred Frith / Fecit / Victoria Gallery / 1843”. The fact that the silhouette is signed on the reverse is unusual and a signature using the first name "Fred" is previously unrecorded. A scan of the signature has been taped to the back of the frame. The silhouette is in fine condition with a bit of overall toning to the card. It resides in a period canted profile rosewood veneer frame with a gilt liner. Framed size 6” x 5 ½”.
